5 Life-Changing Books Every Concrete Lifting Business Owner Should Read

By: Josh Fulfer
Estimated Read Time: 3 Minutes

I’m not really a “book guy” just for the sake of reading. I’m a results guy. I read to grow. I read to learn. I read to get better at business, family, mindset, and leadership—because it all matters.

Here are 5 books that changed how I think—and helped me build the kind of life I never thought I’d have. I recommend these to any concrete lifter, business owner, or hard-working person trying to make things better for themselves and their family.

How to Win Concrete Lifting Jobs1. How to Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie

This book should be required reading for every business owner, employee, or human being in general. I read it early in my journey and still go back to it. (I even got a young adult version for my daughter.)

Key Lesson: People do business with people they like. Learn to listen. Learn to smile. Learn to show genuine interest. It’ll change your relationships—and your business—forever.

2. Atomic Habits – James Clear

This one gave me the tools to make small changes that added up to big wins. It’s not about motivation—it’s about systems and consistency.

Key Lesson: Your habits shape your identity. If you want to be the kind of person who runs a great business or leads a great family, build the habits that support it—bit by bit. Little changes go a long way and build you into the person you want to be!

3. The E-Myth Revisited – Michael E. Gerber

This one hit me like a punch in the face. It explains why most small businesses fail—and what to do instead. I read this while just leaving my corporate gig and starting my first local lead generation & web design agency.

Key Lesson: Don’t just work in your business. Work on it. Build systems, not chaos. Hire people. Treat them well. Document processes. Make the business work without you being chained to it 24/7.

Alex Hormozi $100m Leads4. $100M Offers – Alex Hormozi

I’m a big Hormozi guy. He’s an entrepreneur, fitness guy, motivator, and more. But this book is like a masterclass in how to sell value, position your services, and stand out in a crowded market. (He also has tons of great content on YouTube.)

Key Lesson: Make your offer so good, people feel stupid saying no. That applies to concrete lifting, SEO, or anything else. Serve people better, and you’ll never run out of work.

5. See You at the Top – Zig Ziglar

Zig was talking about personal development before it was cool. His mindset is old-school in the best way. This book blends motivation, personal responsibility, and leadership all into one.

Key Lesson: You don’t climb to the top by stepping on people. You climb by lifting others up as you go—and staying grounded in your values along the way.

Final Thoughts

If you want to build a better business, start by building yourself. These books gave me tools, mindset shifts, and real-world strategies I still use every day—whether I’m on the job, leading my team, raising my kids, or spending time with my wife.

You don’t need to read 100 books. Just read a few that move the needle—and then take action on what they teach.
