Whether you’re just getting started in the concrete lifting industry—or you’ve got a crew and want to level up—there’s one habit that will pay you for life:

Always be learning.

New tools, smarter rigs, better sales strategies, better foam, faster lifts… this industry’s always evolving. And the good news is: there’s never been more free knowledge out there if you know where to look.

1. 📱 Join These Two Facebook Groups

If you’re not already in these groups, stop what you’re doing and go request access:

Concrete Lifting Worldwide
Polyjacking Worldwide

These groups are gold.

Thousands of contractors from all over the U.S. (and beyond) post questions, share photos, talk pricing, and help each other solve real-world job site issues.

Have a question about foam, guns, hoses, insurance, commercial bids, or what rig setup to run? Ask it here. You’ll get real answers from real contractors. The energy in these groups is super welcoming—no egos, just help.

2. 🎥 Watch These YouTube Channels

Sometimes you just need to see how it’s done. That’s where YouTube comes in. Search for concrete lifting/raising/poly/mudjacking videos to learn from others and see how they operate.

If you’re looking for specific channels, here are two channels worth subscribing to:

HMI – Training footage, rig walkthroughs, foam demos, and lifting techniques from one of the most respected names in the industry.
FoamWorks – Real-world job videos and foam lifting footage that’s easy to follow and loaded with lessons.
Concrete Hero – Great walk throughs and explanations of many lifting scenarios. These are money!

These are great for new business owners, techs in training, or even as refresher material before commercial jobs.

3. 👷‍♂️ Shadow Another Contractor (in a Different Market)

This is one of the smartest moves I see newer lifters make:

Find someone in a different state or city who isn’t your direct competition and ask if you can shadow them for a day or two, or more.

You’ll learn things in one morning that might have taken you 6 months to figure out the hard way.

Most guys are surprisingly open to it—especially if you offer to buy lunch, pitch in, or help clean the rig.

Bonus: Use those Facebook groups we just discussed to find someone to shadow 🙂

4. 🎓 Consider a Formal Training Program

On-the-job training is a must—but don’t sleep on the value of formal education, too.

We broke down some of the top training options in this article:

Many training programs now offer real foam application, sales training, business guidance, and safety walk-throughs. They’re perfect for:

✅ New owners who want a proper foundation
✅ Employees who need structure + confidence
✅ Business owners who want to grow faster with fewer mistakes

Final Thoughts

There’s no ego in being new. And there’s no shame in asking questions—even if you’ve been lifting for years.

The best guys in the game are the ones still learning. Still tweaking. Still looking for ways to grow smarter—not just harder.

So join the groups. Watch the videos. Ask the questions. Shadow someone. Get trained. Then pay it forward.

This is a great industry full of people who are rooting for you. And we are too.
